It's been calculated that over twenty million people choose LA as their vacation destination every year. With that large figure in mind, it's hard to imagine this Californian city with only a few places to stay.

Of course, the city is very large and includes all sorts of famous and infamous neighborhoods, so you'll find that the best hotels are usually in specific areas. Nobody seeks out an Los Angeles Luxury Hotel without having an idea of what they want to see and how they're going to get the most out of their trip. This is the golden city, named for The Angels and its has 80 neighborhoods which all have their own elements. Downtown LA is a trendy and colorful place where there are some very modern lodgings. This is where to find lodgings where the front desk can tell you where to get your tattoo done. If you're more of a movie buff, then you'll probably be looking for a room or suite near Hollywood. It's been suggested that Hollywood is more easily classifiable when you see it on the small screen, but the locals will probably disagree. Stay on or near Hollywood Boulevard and be right in the heart of the movie center of the world. The boulevard is the location of both the Grauman's Theaters. The first to open being the Grauman's Egyptian Theater, which opened as far back as 1922, and then Grauman's Chinese Theater, which was opened a few years afterwards. Right outside Grauman's Chinese Theater is the Hollywood Walk of Fame where you can have a look at the handprints of the people whose movies have, in some hard to pin-down way, changed the world. If you're a real movie fan, you can watch a movie at Grauman's and know that you're sitting in the auditorium which has been home to three Academy Awards ceremonies and has been the cinema to first show some of the greatest films ever made.

But LA is not just about movies, even if those who work in the industry are around 18 percent of the population. True, if you're staying in Century City you'll be aware it was once a backlot of the 20th Century Fox film company, but the city has gone on to new areas of business and creative development. With a technology output of about four times that of Silicon Valley when it comes to sheer profit, it's easy to see why it has one of the most successful economies of any city in the world, and ranked third in the United States.

With the city's Mexican heritage, since it was once part of Mexico, you can except to find some accommodations which have been created to extract the style and design of its early history. Not to forget the pre-history which goes back as far as 38,000 BC and, for those into fossils, can still be seen at the La Brea Tar Pits of Hancock Park. The early 20th century history is part of the creative landscape of the city. Head to Pershing Square in Downtown LA and see one of its most famous lodgings which has been the home away from home for many figures of art, politics, literature and science.

Take a towel and head to long, clean beaches or take a day trip and try to see more than one of the 300 museums. Don't be surprised if you run into film crews. The city has been a substitute location for so many films that you might even find yourself thinking that you recognize this building or that street from a film you thought was made in, say, Japan.

From the famous Florenz Ziegfeld who once took over thirteen-room suite of an LA lodging, to the Tropicana Motel, on Santa Monica Boulevard, which was home to beatniks and musicians like Tow Waits and Jimi Hendrix, your hospitality experience of LA just requires you to pick what the city means to you.
